Terminator: Genesis is now officially filming in New Orleans. The movie will reboot the series and aim for a new trilogy. Although the ‘reboot’ will be more akin to how they rebooted Star Trek rather than an outright remake, using alternate timelines to explain the rejig.
Shooting under the code name “RIP Sarah”, the Alan Taylor-directed moive stars Emilia Clarke, John Clarke, Jai Courtney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Byung-hun Lee, Sandrine Holt, J.K Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Michael Gladis and Anthony Michael Frederick. Supposedly, the movie will wrap sometime in August.
Which leads to another point on scheduling. There is some confusion online over an alleged back-to-back filming of a trilogy. Originally, Deadline reported that a theorized 2nd and 3rd movie would be filmed together, which ‘Metro.co.uk’ then seemingly wrongly interpreted as a three-movie schedule for 2014. I think the actual plans there would be to film the 2nd and 3rd movies together, if the 1st is a financial success.
