Next month at Cannes, the cast will be revealed for John McTiernan’s Red Squad. It’s a big deal since McTiernan is probably our favourite director ever and this is sort of his “comeback” deal.
In the meantime a rather supine rumour emerges that Colin Farrell may play a role in the movie. “After being forced to retire from the DEA, TRENT MITCHELL (Colin Farrell or equivalent), and his friend, a former DEA Agent and ex-convict, MARTIN CRANE (Nicolas Cage), head to a small town on the border of Texas and Mexico with a plan to take down GIRALDO ESTAMADURO, a ruthless drug lord.”
True or not? Probably not, but like I say will officially find out next month.
Previously Al Pacino and Nicolas Cage were rumoured. Cage is almost a foregone fact at this point and although it can be edited by anyone, someone has recently taken the time to add him to the quiet IMDb page for the movie. Another rumor that Red Squad will enter production on the 1st of May however is false. We can confirm that production begins in July.
More soon…
