PLATE GATE: STALLONE HAS ONLINE MELTDOWN, INSULTS OWN FANS

Recently, Sylvester Stallone uploaded a video to Instagram showing himself lifting what appeared to be 45lb plates in each arm, in a side lateral fashion.  On YouTube, Stallone was quickly accused of using fake weights (see above video).

This comes after recent YouTube scandals where fitness experts (like Athlean-X) were accused of using the same brand of fake weights, the Athlean-X scandal has placed those plates on everyone’s radar now.  On first glance, it appears that Stallone is being satirical, he does after all include the word “Heavy” in quotes on the original video.

At the same time, as coincidence would have it, Sylvester Stallone finally showed up on his official discussion forums, shortly before this.  There, the video was discussed.  The following is a condensed version of the discussion:

USER 1: “They are fake weighs…the plastic coating gives it away”.
STALLONE: “Why don’t you try it you jealous weakling???”
USER 2: “He looks fantastic but somthing about how those plates are so shiny/ platic looking makes me think they may be fake. The type used for photoshoots.  The type used for photoshoots. Majority of those fake weights are easily 1/4 of the actual weights of the real ones. The first time id ever noticed this was that image of sly doing one arm 100 lb shpulder raise. No trainer would have their client put their shoulder in such a vulnerable position let alone a client whos in their 70s! Again slys awsome but the man has perfected the art of movie montage training where fake wieghts are 110% used”
STALLONE: “I HAVE DONE THINGS YOU COULD NEVER IMAGINE>>> I HAVE LIFTED OVER 575 POUNDS at a body weight of 170 ,loser”
USER 1: *Posts video again*
STALLONE: “really ? drop one on your face then ask that question again… I am disapointed in this group of punks”
USER 1: “Hmmmmm. The real Sly is throwing insults now? Loser….weakling….jealous punks?”

The ‘group of punks’ seems to also refer to others posting similar comments, but not being directly quoted by Stallone.  It also appears that ‘User 2’ was banned from the site for having made the above comment.  As the discussion progressed, some question whether or not the video was intentionally a joke and that Stallone was even just joking on the site.  However one observed that given Stallone’s attitude, this appeared unlikely:

USER 3: “What I’m confused about is why did Sly get so angry at some fans on here if that’s really the case? It doesn’t make any sense.”

The real disappointment seems to be Stallone’s catty response, along with a near cult-like treatment of the situation by the site’s owner and moderators. Some have even questioned whether or not this is the real Sylvester Stallone, however it was confirmed multiple times by the site’s owner.

Stallone was previously banned from the site.  A not uncommon thing there, the moderators in particular having a near deranged obsession with the man.
