Concept Art: Mel Gibson As Wolverine (1997)

Back in 1997, when comic book movies were still cool (they’re not anymore), when Wesley Snipes and Arnold Schwarzenegger were doing it, they wanted bring the X-Men to the big screen.  And have Mel Gibson play the Wolverine.

The concept art from back then, supposedly created by Miles Teves (www.milesteves.com) has surfaced online.

It’s not known why Fox didn’t ultimately cast Mel as Wolverine, but rumors suggest he was simply too expensive.  Mel turned the movie down for Payback – great movie, both versions.  You know, all this shit people like to talk these days about this guy or that guy not wanting to work with Mel… maybe Mel didn’t want to work with Bryan Singer?  Huh?  Am I wrong?

Am I wrong?

In 1997 MEL GIBSON was offered the role of Wolverine in #XMen here is the concept by Miles Teves. #DOFP pic.twitter.com/UNyfNl0N3n
