True Detective Season Two – New Information

If you’re disillusioned with movies these days, you might find that TV is increasingly the way to go.  True Detective was reviewed on this site and given a 9/10.  So the next season if of interest.  It will be set in California, as opposed to Louisiana.

On the series, Nic Pizzolatto:  “It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but one of the much lesser known venues of California. And we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place much like we did in season one,” he said.

While no casting has been announced, it’s believed that they’ll be two male names and one female (the role rumoured for Jessica Chastain). All three would be cops.

Deadline says “the three leads as a fortysomething male detective/cop with Joaquin Phoenix, Christian Bale and Josh Brolin as prototypes, a twentysomething male cop and a thirtysomething female detective, with Jessica Chastain as a potential prototype. Following the tour de force performances of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson last season, Season 2 casting rumors have been swirling, with a number of A-listers bandied about. After early speculation about Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett, the rumor mill in the past few weeks focused on Bale, Phoenix and Brolin as well as The Normal Heart star Taylor Kitsch for the other male lead and Chastain.”
