Ed Harris Joins Westworld Pilot

A remake of Westworld is on the way, at least in TV format.  The original, by Michael Crichton, came out in 1973 and was about a robot malfunction that creates havoc and terror for unsuspecting vacationers at a futuristic, adult-themed amusement park.  At one point Arnold Schwarzenegger was planning a big screen version.

Ed Harris will play the primary antagonist, The Man In Black, originally played by Yul Bryner.  The character is described as “the distillation of pure villainy into one man.” Anthony Hopkins will also star in this J.J. Abrams production.

One other thing worth mentioning… the screenwriter is Jonathan Nolan.  Let’s hope that doesn’t mean chockingly highfalutin yet equally shit wall-to-wall dialogue.  Anyway, Ed Harris… Manly Man, definitely makes this interesting by himself.
