Eddie Murphy has signed on to appear in his first dramatic role in a while, in ‘The Cook’, since Samuel L. Jackson dropped out of the project. He will play a chef hired by a dying man to cook for his girlfriend and her daughter when he dies. and the movie will be directed by Bruce Beresford, director of Driving Miss Daisy.
Bruce told Australia’s Inside Film: “It’s a dramatic role and I think Eddie realised it’s a nice change of pace for him.” Filming begins next month.
This obviously signals that things are still not ready to roll on Beverly Hills Cop IV, in development hell for 20 years. That film has a fixed release date, March 25, 2016. Surely it will start shooting immediately after The Cook or at least soon after. Little is known about COP IV other than it will be Rated-R (no dirty tricks there like other productions which shall go nameless), will star Murphy and Judge Reinhold and be set partially in Detroit in the midst of a storm.
I’d wager that Beverly Hills Cop IV will have a Q1 start.
