I guess ManlyMovie’s question, Will Furious 7 Be The Last? has been answered. No. It won’t. And series mainstay Justin Lin will return to finish things up for good. Here is a report from Deadline:
I am not getting anything from the studio on this, but here’s what I hear: I expect Lin and Universal to begin talking again about him directing a multi-part production that will lead to multiple movies shot together and will wave the checkered flag on the Fast & Furious franchise.
Sounds to me like there will be ten movies in total, with another Lin trilogy. Man, that is a lot of movies to come out of a 2001 car thriller with two (at the time) B-listers. Everyone from the original has appeared in some capacity or other. The only one missing is Johnny Strong, and he has said he will not return to the franchise. It will be interesting to see where they’re going to take this. Perhaps more movies does not necessarily mean more sequels. Spin offs perhaps?
I hope Tony Jaa is a returning villain. Keep an eye out for another exclusive interview with him closer to release. Perhaps he’ll spill the beans on-record.
