It’s the simplicity of it that you gotta love. Van Damme is pissed because, you guessed it: someone has wronged a brother of his. Van Damme wants to fight the guy who paralysed his brother. It’s basically a training montage leading up to a classic fight. And why not? Another movie that plays to his strengths and gives the audience what it wants to see. This is the one that really introduced Van Damme as a force to be reckoned with.

With the help of some typically strong 80’s fight choreographing and directing, Van Damme pisses charisma. He was peerless after this as far as martial arts action stars goes, the fight scenes outdo everything newcomer Seagal had to offer, or anyone else for that matter. If you weren’t rooting for Van Damme by the end of this movie, there’s something wrong with your brain.
