Diesel Joins Iraq War Drama

Is this Vin Diesel’s first war movie since Saving Private Ryan in 1998?  Well sort of, a kind of post-war movie.

Along with Chris Tucker, he has joined the cast of Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Half-time Walk. Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund also star in the movie, based on the novel of the same name. The film fixes on a group of surviving Iraq War soldiers who are attending a victory parade in their honor.

Interestingly enough Steve Martin has also joined the cast of this movie.  For some reason the only time I ever seem to find that guy in movies these days is in something from the 1980’s, or maybe I’m just watching the wrong type of movie.

I haven’t read the novel so I can’t comment as to its quality but I do know that the movie is set over the course of one day.
