Another Schwarzenegger Movie Goes DTV In Australia

maggie1

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been given the chop, again, in Australia.  Prior to “Maggie” his last movie was “Sabotage”, which went DTV down under.  Now Maggie has as well.  This follows Escape Plan narrowly missing DTV in the country after a concerted fan effort moved that movie into limited theaters.

So it appears that somebody, somewhere in the Australian promotion industry thinks that Schwarzenegger is not really bankable these days.

This won’t be the case with “Terminator: Genisys” although that is a much bigger movie, a franchise name with key players involved besides Schwarzenegger, including Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke and Australian movie star Jai Courtney.  Although to be fair Maggie barely got a limited run in most other countries, in cinemas.  There is also the fair criticism of releasing a movie into limited theaters, and on VOD simultaneously, the wisdom of such a decision is sure to be questioned.

Schwarzenegger has struggled since leaving office with none of his solo movies commanding the box office appeal that they once did.  His late-career boom era has yet to kick off.  He’ll be hoping that this begins with Terminator: Genisys, to be followed by “The Legend of Conan” and other ventures such as “Triplets”.
