At the weekend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was set to be introduced at the Guys Choice Awards by none other than manly man Clint Eastwood. During his speech, Clint made a passing mention to “Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody…” during the taping which took place at Sony Pictures Studio in Los Angeles.
The latter wording, Caitlyn Somebody has courted noted controversy, because although the event took place and was filmed at the weekend, it has yet to air. And when it does, the latter comment will be omitted and censored.
The ceremony is due to air on June 18, and according to USA Today, the gaff will be cut when it is televised. David Schwarz, Spike TV senior vice president of communications, told USA Today: ‘We will remove the reference in the version that will air.’
The comment has drawn heated criticism from SJWs — social justice warriors. And I think many of us in the west will now admit that such people and their ilk are fast becoming a majority. We are in the midst of unprecedented social change. Well, we’d like to stick up for Clint Eastwood here.
Here is a legendary actor, who hasn’t committed manslaughter like some, who showed up at the Guys Choice Awards, an event you’d think at one time would’ve been a reserve for males to avoid deranged political correctness and let off some steam. Perhaps that is what Clint was doing. I see nothing wrong with that.
But you could even say that Clint genuinely did not know the name of the man in question. The man in question is not famous, at least he was not until recently. Then he adopted a woman’s name, for all Clint knew he could’ve changed his surname too. Finally Clint is 85 years old.
Cut him some slack, he probably just forget the dude’s name.
