Some say that Australian actress Emily Browning is typecast in a certain role that only focuses upon her looks. Currently out doing promotional rounds for the Tom Hardy-led UK crime drama Legend, Browning spoke with The Guardian and says she’s done being eye candy on screen and/or playing a vapid love interest role.
‘I’m so determined not to play the hot babe that doesn’t say anything, that can’t have an opinion, but it’s so difficult to resist all of that. Hollywood movies are made for white men, and that’s something I think about and which bothers me all the time.’
Emily Browning will have a problem appearing in projects aimed at white males, who incidentally make up about 25-30% of viewing demographics by the way. But she sure will take those fat paydays which make her an extraordinarily rich woman. Conviction versus money, eh? Incidentally, who makes these movies? We’ve heard Emily’s thoughts on consumers. When will we hear her take on the producers, and their demographics?
My thoughts exactly.
