“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”, one of the summer’s better action movies, managed to pull in $18.5 million in its opening day in China, the biggest opening day ever for a 2D Hollywood release.
The big number comes as the critically acclaimed fifth entry in the Tom Cruise-led franchise crossed the $500 million worldwide mark over the Labor Day weekend and is touted to go a lot higher than that and past the $694 million worldwide gross of the previous installment.
The film has earned around $183 million domestically and over $329 million internationally, not including that Chinese result. The total Chinese gross for the film is expected to be over $200 million.
