To meet the 30th anniversary of Aliens, Reebok is issuing a limited run of ‘Stompers’, the boots worn by Lt. Ripley in the movie.
Turns out however that they’ve only released the shoes so far in men’s sizes. The smallest in the range is a Men’s Size 9 which means that most women will not be able to wear the collectible items. Birth Movies Death first mentioned the problem in a rather damning report from a SpectreVision films executive who spoke about her experience trying to purchase the shoes.
Well there has been indignation from the far left, which is apparently now mainstream (as opposed to the old centrist left). i09 says; ‘fans have been screwed over in an incredibly crappy way’. Time magazine called the release a ‘failure‘.
Yet more manufactured ire, with many of these pieces written by white knight neckbeard male feminists. I can safely tell you that I don’t know a single woman who is overly interested in Aliens, let alone aware of the existence of these boots. Aliens is a ‘compromise’ movie quite often in my experience, in the same way that one of those shitty Matt McConaughey romcoms is a compromise for me. Second, even if someone would want to wear these fugly things, they’re not supposed to be worn. You put ’em on a plaque or something.
