Solima In Talks To Direct Sicario Sequel (Soldado)

Sicario was one of last year’s better movies and, for sure, one of the top five manliest movies of 2015.  Now we look forward to the sequel, which will be titled ‘Soldado’ (Spanish for ‘Soldier’).  This film will mostly focus on Benicio Del Toro’s character, which is a good thing because his character was the best thing about the first movie.

Taylor Sheridan has penned the script for the follow-up with the hope that Denis Villenueve, who directed the first, would return.  However he is busy with his ‘Blade Runner’ sequel.

So instead Italian director Stefano Sollima is in talks to direct the sequel, with Josh Brolin returning as the CIA agent who plays both sides of the fence.  Emily Blunt, however, will not return.

Anyone remember the hype that feminists had whipped themselves into over the first movie only to be disappointed to find that it was a regular thing where men acted like men and women acted like women?
