They’re remaking Big Trouble in Little China, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. While some might recall Kurt Russell was a bit unenthusiastic about the project, it appears to be still going ahead despite how packed The Rock’s schedule is.
Asked by Fandango if he’ll ever appear in a remake of his own movies, Russell says the answer is still no;
No, I’ve never been one to hold my hat out in any way. That’s just not who I am. As a matter of fact, I’m not interested generally in playing people I’ve played before. I like doing new things. I did one sequel one time – Escape from L.A. And I did it for many different reasons. No, I think if you’re given the opportunity as an actor to do different things, do them. Don’t get stuck doing the same thing.
Anyone remember when Kurt Russell stonewalled Sylvester Stallone about an Expendables appearance? I do. Stallone even contacted his own discussion forums (like once out of 2-3 times ever) and mentioned that he was offended that he could only speak to Russell’s agent.
But was Russell right in the end? I don’t know, still would’ve been cool to see him in the first movie, at least, because it was good.
