Who’s Ready For An Equalizer Sequel?

The Equalizer franchise should be right up our alley, a violent vigilante taking out assorted trash here, there.  We wonder though if there will be a sequel to the recent remake directed by Antoine Fuqua.  Here is what producer Todd Black has to say;

BLACK: The script is done. We start shooting right after Labor Day, maybe right before Labor Day depending on Denzel’s schedule. So Equalizer 2 will start shooting in September of next year, maybe earlier depending on another movie that we’re shooting with Denzel before that. We’re going to do a little bit more work and we’re going to go into casting right after that for his nemesis.

 

Is Antoine coming back?

 

BLACK: Yeah! He better!

 

Who wrote the script?

 

BLACK: Same writer, Richard Wenk.

Personally I am down for more of this, but I think one criticism needs to be addressed in the new movie.  Denzel’s Equalizer was a bit too invulnerable, the guy was like the fucking Terminator, but in an otherwise serious movie.  Some jeopardy is needed… time for a huge villain?
