Watching Robert Duvall in the manly movie Falling Down (1993), I couldn’t help but notice that once again Robert Duvall was playing, well… Robert Duvall. In the movie The Road, even though Duvall was physically unrecognisable and covered in makeup in a cameo, in the dark, I could once again tell who it was because of his idiosyncrasies.
But even though Robert Duvall can only play Robert Duvall, I don’t think it’s a bad thing or necessarily even a lack of skill. He’s just such a cool cat that it’s not really a problem. Because while he’s always entertaining, he’s always Robert Duvall.
VERDICT: INCAPABLE
