We may have correctly targeted some sellouts in recent times for their refusal to make movies that were cast out of an ‘R’ mould violent like they should be, but now a lesson comes from an unlikely source on how to handle these types of things.
Speaking at a screening of footage at Butt-Numb-a-thon this weekend, Mangold revealed to AICN’s Quint (via The Playlist that Jackman himself is the one who eased their apprehension – by taking a salary cut because he wanted to ensure he could do an R-rated movie.
So if Hugh Jackman could do it for a movie that could easily have gotten away with being PG-13 or even PG-13 in theaters and R on Blu-Ray… why did Sylvester Stallone (and to be fair, his co-stars) put up with a PG-13 Expendables 3?
Or that other thing… Terminator: Genisys, anyone?
