The director of the first, and best, Fast & Furious movie, Rob Cohen, is being sought by Chinese producers to direct Speedhunters.
China Movie Channel’s 1905 Pictures have came up with the movie which will be set in the near future and revolve around a band of racers who find themselves in the centre of intrigue when a new type of technology threatens to fall into the wrong hands.
The movie is going to have a $100 million budget, probably going to be a real looker since the Chinese have less of a problem with mysteriously bloated budgets disappearing down sinkholes like in Hollywood. Perhaps we’ll see most of that budget on screen.
The movie will be mostly spoken in English, but will have some Cantonese dialogue and Chinese actors, according to Variety. Production begins in Shanghai in July.
