There is more Sopranos to come.
The hit HBO series — which is widely regarded the best TV series ever made — is getting some more screen time with a prequel film with the working title The Many Saints of Newark, according to Deadline.
The film is set during the 1960s riots in Newark, N.J., between the African-American and Italian communities, Deadline reported. Some of the characters from the original series would also return, likely younger versions of Tony’s parents, who were portrayed by Joseph Siravo and Nancy Marchand.
The best news though is that it is a David Chase venture. Chase is obviously the man behind the actual TV series. Chase decided to end the show on a high and pre-empt gratuity and fatigue like so many shows fall victim to, so I can only think that this is going to be a good deal.
It won’t be the first time this era shows up, the actual series offers flashbacks. The question is, will we get to see Uncle Junior (possibly me favorite TV personality of all time) or perhaps Feech La Manna? Those fellas were old in the show, but they had quite the colorful pasts…
