In a surprising turn, after it appeared Shane Black killed off the Predator franchise (especially with Fox shelving a lot of stuff), it looks like they’ve ordered another movie. According to Deadline.com Dan Trachtenberg, director of 10 Cloverfield Lane, is directing the latest film;
EXCLUSIVE; 20th Century Studios has engaged 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg to direct the fifth installment in the Predator series. The script is being written by Patrick Aison, whose producer-writer credits include the series Kingdom, Jack Ryan and Treadstone.
Trachtenberg’s sole big screen directorial effort is the aforementioned 10 Cloverfield Lane, which as it happens, is a fairly good horror thriller. However the most important news is probably that the new film is set to ignore the mess created by Shane Black in the recent film.
Predator suits, super Predators, DNA splicing and relentless mom jokes? For it to stand a chance, that shit had to go.
So here we are again. Another shot at Predator 3. Let’s see how this one goes, and if they realize that sticking to the basics = $$$.
