Above is footage from a video game called I Am Batman. It features the return of Michael Keaton/The Burtonverse. Unfortunately, it is from a game that’ll almost certainly never be released, since it’s only a fan venture.
Fan artist Osmany Gomez is the man behind it, but unfortunately he won’t even be able to release it to the public as a demo. Warner Bros would probably destroy him through litigation, as they are quite severe on this type of thing.
The game was created using the Unreal engine and contains the Batcave and a chunk of Gotham City. Featured in the game are Jack Nicholson’s Joker and Danny DeVito’s Penguin, along with scenes from the original movies such as the defaced art gallery.
While the game will probably never see the light of day, its popularity, combined with Keaton’s return in The Flash and the hype that’s (already) generating, we might hope that WB will see the $$ signs here and deliver a game themselves.
Stranger things have happened; past fan artists have been hit with cease and desist offers, which were quickly followed by job offers to complete real projects.
This is the first time Keaton’s Batman has appeared in a video game since 1993…
