Arnold Schwarzenegger recently launched an attack on those who do not wish to wear masks, referring to them as ‘schmucks’. Given that more than half of all people do not wear masks, Schwarzenegger was likely insulting half of his own fan base.
Ever the trend hound, Schwarzenegger responded to the notable backlash by conceding that what he said was ‘a bit much‘, a post that came across not so much as recantation but a screed of gaslighting.
In his latest newsletter however, Schwarzenegger again goes on the attack:
If they listened to the whole quote, they would have realized that I am talking about all of the whiny babies that I see going viral on the internet who think that being asked to put on a mask is a perfect reason to throw a toddler fit in a grocery store and look like an absolute child. These are people who yell “FREEDOM” in their American flag hats while not taking any time to study the history of our nation and how freedom and duty have ALWAYS gone hand in hand. They think being an American means not caring about their fellow Americans, and I’m sorry, I can’t accept that.
Schwarzenegger also attacked those he deemed to be ‘click baiting’ by using his quote and taking it out of context. He then went on to say that if WW2 veterans put up with worse, you can put up with this, even though one of the biggest disputes is over trust, not motivation.
Because of course, left out of Schwarzenegger’s rants is the problem of people refusing to wear masks not because they are petulant, but because they have trouble believing known liars, presenting dubious statistics. Time might even prove that in the pantheon of historical lies, they could even be up there with ‘yellow cake from Niger’, something Arnold’s pal George W. Bush could possibly advise on. The herd has memories, outside the Elite’s bubble…
Elsewhere, Schwarzenegger has lost a sponsor. Bodybuilding sponsor REDCON1 has cut ties, and founder Aaron Singerman cited the company’s reason for dropping the celebrity due to his “anti-America” comments. He further explained the decision to The Hill with these words:
To be clear we did not pull out of the event because of a mask issue. We understand the importance of public safety as well as the responsibilities of all event organizers. These are unprecedented times and we’re aligned with public safety for all. We elected to discontinue support due to Arnold’s comment, ‘Screw Your Freedoms.’ With the global influence Arnold beholds we find that ideology dangerous and anti-America and community.
Schwarzenegger probably thinks he has his finger on the pulse…
