ABYSS 4K BY MARCH

The Abyss has been MIA (along with True Lies) in home media for eons.  A ‘lesser’ James Cameron film, it has been denied various releases over decades.

However French journalist Arthur Cios reveals now on Twitter that following his video interview with Cameron this week for Avatar: The Way of Water, he asked the filmmaker off camera when a 4K UHD release of The Abyss is coming. The response? (translated from French): “He told me that he had a new master and that it would be released by March 2023 at the latest”.

The rumor seems to have been confirmed by long-time The Digital Bits reporter Bill Hunt.  The sequel to Avatar, by the way, is getting rave reviews.  I don’t know about anyone else, but I haven’t been compelled all that much to return to Avatar like other Cameron movies.  Maybe even behind Titanic.

But hey, we need more non-capeshit monster hits.
