We got an update from someone claiming to be in touch with a cast member/extra on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) today:
Talking with my friend again, she’s been on set and has been creating a ‘backstory’ for her part as a ‘wretched’ beggar Apparently they all had to invent some tale about their life in this post nuclear world. The wretched characters barter their bodily fluids for scraps from the elite who live up at the top of the citadel. She says oil isn’t an issue in this story, as the Immortan Joe character has taken over some old wells and got them going again. I know this sounds bizarre, but she’s seen the whole script and says the vehicles are kept in the air, maybe by hot air balloons? I wasn’t sure what she meant, they’re somehow ‘floated’ up and down and around the place. It sounds pretty, uh, mad.
Well, if true it’s just another piece of the jigsaw puzzle that is George Miller’s latest Mad Max. I’m slightly skeptical, I do recall something about the tanker/semi featuring prominently, i.e. is a valued target just like in Mad Max 2, which would suggest it’s cargo (oil) is still scarce. It was pictured here in a recent update, having been shipped to Australia from Africa where it was also present. This person also claims to have read the entire script. Not likely from what I heard – most of the cast, especially extras, are merely given the page/s that involve them. But who knows. Thanks to ‘WifeFive’.
