Five Things Needed For Rambo V
3) More Jerry Goldsmith, Less Brian Tyler
Don’t get me wrong, I think Brian Tyler’s score for Rambo IV was pretty good. But I was hoping for more of that heavy legendary score of Jerry Goldsmith’s, in particular the more aggressive direction he went in for Rambo II and Rambo III. I had the same disappointment with the last two ‘Die Hard’ movies. Awful soundtracks, especially next to the old music. The score for Rambo IV was a superb standalone piece but I think more Rambo signature was needed. Maybe there’s a licensing issue at play here, but if not, at least in the action sequences, let’s have some more throwback.
