Kickboxer Reboot Loses Tony Jaa & Director

Looks like a few bumps on the road for the Kickboxer remake, the bigger one, not the Albert Pyun remake of the fifth movie (yes really).  They lost Scott Adkins although he never really signed on, too small of a role he said.  Now they have lost Tony Jaa, scheduling conflict.  They’ve also lost the director for the movie.

Stephen Fung (Tai Chi Zero) has dropped out of the project.  Instead In the Blood director John Stockwell is said to be taking his place.  I have not seen that movie although a cursory glance at the usual movie ratings sites suggests a lack of quality.

Kickboxer will star George St-Pierre and former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista, who will play Tong Po and seems to be making a bit of a name for himself as an action star at the minute.  Alain Moussi will also star as Kurt Sloan.  I’m not sure where Tony and Scott would’ve fit in, with two central characters already having been filled in.  Perhaps not surprising they’re no longer attached?
