Top Five: Reasons Terminator Genisys Will Suck
4) Horrible Timeline/Story
If you’re the type to take this movie seriously and consider it a proper Terminator sequel, then by the time you’ve finished watching it, you’ll never be able to look at Jim Cameron’s original movies the same way. They’re basically being ostracized from history to make way for a new timeline. Nobody wants to see a Terminator protecting Sarah Connor for nth time in the present. Especially when it’s screwing with what we know.
Ever since Terminator 2 ended, the only way to go was to film a war movie set in the future. The rise of John Connor and his war against the machines. This new story, from what I can glean from the trailer, is full of painful puns (come with me if you want to live), a dead give away that somebody wants to appeal to nostalgia too much. They obviously couldn’t come up with a new fresh and intriguing story, so they’re going back to screw with what we know, with visual familiar cues and gimmicks such as a T-800 vs a T-800.
And you just know it won’t have an ending either. This movie is resetting the timeline and will probably leave things open, so that they can get you to pay for two more of these turds. That’s the plan there. Schwarzenegger knows it too, but staying relevant is key for him.
