The Terminator: A movie about a stone cold assassin who rips out a phonebook then starts killing everyone who shares the name of his victim, just to be sure he gets the right one. Anyone who gets in his way gets their heart ripped out, still beating. Terminator 2: A movie about another assassin attempting to kill a boy, who stabs men who get in his way through the neck and eye socket.
An ‘R’ series for sure. So then, what the fuck is this shit?
I don’t want to see a PG-13 Terminator movie. I don’t care for a Terminator movie where the primary villain (a T-1000 that is curiously lacking from promotional material, another reason to suspect this is the Emilia Clarke show) can only do limited things to its victims. Robert Patrick was a stone cold killer, Arnold Schwarzenegger was even worse. Woe betide those who got in their way.
This is bordering on darker-themed Avengers territory. The sole reason for aiming for a PG-13 rating is to draw in more money from younger audiences. As Cyrus said recently, in that case, many in that age bracket may not even have been born when Terminator 3 was released, let alone Terminator 1 or 2. They don’t know who Arnold Schwarzenegger is. They don’t care. Which is why Entertainment Weekly featured a shiny endoskeleton and a Game of Thrones star instead of him.
Kyle Reese said Terminators do not feel pity or remorse. Expect that one to have been brought up at the committee meeting that gave life to this movie. Remember the scene from RoboCop 2 where some execs met in a board room and drew up a list of things that RoboCop could no longer do?
