We are all keeping an eye on the box office performance of Terminator: Genisys because even though the movie is a real stinker, it does have an effect on what we hope will be a badass return to form with The Legend of Conan. If Terminator bombs then it could have a negative effect, if it does not then it can only have a positive effect.
So what is the latest for Conan? Speaking with Nerd Report, Schwarzenegger was asked what drew him back to the character:
“I was hoping to do another one, and I [liked] the idea of Conan having been king for a long time, then just threw it all away and went into retirement and went off into the mountains. That whole idea always appealed to me. Then of course he gets asked back because of some hideous and unbelievable things that are happening to the kingdom. So that’s when the battle begins again.”
“Fast and Furious” franchise scribe Chris Morgan initially worked on the script with Andrea Berloff then taking over. It was hoped the script would be in place and ready by late last year so filming could begin in the Spring, but according to Schwarzenegger there’s still some work to be done:
“It needs some tweak age but really they’ve done an extraordinary job with it, very thoughtful so I’m looking forward to working with them on that as soon as this gets out of the way, because I’m very focused on one thing at a time. Then we do the next thing.”
But what does that mean for Arnold’s upcoming vigilante thriller? News came last week that that would be his next movie? Conan still does not have a director, so I guess we can only wait and see.
