5) Ralf Moeller
An interesting question is, aside from Arnold Schwarzenegger, who would be a good choice to play a T-800 Terminator? Arnold was a T-800 CSM-101, strictly speaking, but there were in theory more. Keep in mind, according to (Cameron’s) Terminator lore, the ‘T’ donates the chassis and the CSM donates the flesh/human appearance. In theory the actor would have to be pretty big, to cover the chassis, but also having a suitable demeanor. In the coming week we’ll have a similar article on alternate actors for the T-1000 series. Here are our alternate T-800 picks…
There was once a rumor that German brick shit-house Ralf Moeller was the original choice to play the T-1000 in Terminator 2, before James Cameron decided that the T-1000 should be like a Porsche instead of a Panzer. I doubt that that is true, since I believe Cameron stated that the only reason the T-1000 did not appear in the original was because it wasn’t technically feasible. Besides, it has long since been confirmed that the original T-1000 was to be played by Billy Idol (more on that here) Either way, Moeller was in the running for Terminator 4 (before it was Terminator: Salvation). In what capacity, I have no idea. But I’m sure it would’ve been as a T-800 in a support role.
