Top Five: Dolph Lundgren Movies
2) Rocky IV (1985)
I remember seeing the trailer for this on TV, where I first witnessed it, probably over 25 years ago. I made a note to watch it, counted the hours until it came on then had a life altering experience – the training montage, complete with steroid injections. If you don’t want to work out after watching Rocky IV, chances are you have 48% bodyfat. The whole thing is like an MTV music video, and why not.
This is where Rocky switched genres from drama to action. Good timing, good decision. And again, Dolph steals the show. The guy pisses charisma by just standing there, blocking out the arena lights and staring a hole through the next victim. Dolph beats the shit out of Balboa so badly, he fucks up his brain. How manly is that? It took Rocko ’till 2006 to recover. Not even Clubber Lang could say that. I bet the idea of casting Dolph in Terminator 2 at least briefly occurred to Cameron after seeing this.
