4. The Colony (16%)
Sci-fi is supposed to appeal to the kids nowadays, right? So why does The Colony score a nonsensical 16 percent? The film stars Bill Paxton for fuck’s sake. Paxton’s presence alone is enough to boost even the biggest turd to, say, 50 percent. But The Colony isn’t a turd. It’s solid, post apocalyptic fare. Dark, sufficiently violent and intelligent from what I remember, and with perfectly serviceable special effects. Even Larry Fishbourne redeems himself after the piss poor part he took in sci-fi ‘sequel’ shit fest Predators. 16 percent for this is bullshit. If this had been based on some children’s comic book and falsely marketed as having a budget of $150 million those dorks would’ve been jizzing all over it and telling us to go and do the same.
