1) Stick To The Premise
This one can’t really be said enough. Any time I watch a Paul W.S. Anderson Resident Evil movie, I am like ‘what the hell is this shit?’ Or… ‘who the hell is that, anyway?’. The games themselves have pretty good premises, so there is no reason to deviate from them.
Even better, since studios these days are always interested in sequels, Resident Evil 2 is a rare occasion where the sequel is arguably better than the original. I mean, what’s better than a story about surviving a zombie outbreak in a secluded mansion? Obvious answer: Being stuck in an abandoned police department, trying to make your way to the armoury in the basement to get your hands on that Uzi. We were supposed to get that movie in 2004. But you know who fucked it up.
Remember. A bio weapons firm causes an outbreak, which begins at the world’s most creepiest mansion then spreads to the nearby city. Hell they could even do a spin off movie, Code Veronica. Now there was a creepy game.
