Underrated Manly Movies: Part IV
Thirteen Days (2000)
The time comes for another run down of underrated movies and/or decent movies that you may not have otherwise caught. Starting with Thirteen Days. This is actually my favourite Cold War movie, probably. And while there’s definitely a Clinton-ite bent to it – for example the liberal ‘badasses’ schooling the conservative morons on how to avoid needless destruction, this is one fine thriller. No, seriously, it has excellent pacing and allows the pressure to build gradually as it covers one of the most pivotal incidents of the 20th century.
Kevin Costner is great in this, Bruce Greenwood is even better as John F. Kennedy, probably the best Kennedy portrayal ever in fact.
