6) Snake Plissken
There has been a zombie apocalypse? And the fuckers are running rampant? Well Snake Plissken just needs to know one thing. Where. They. Are. Can’t this easily be described as Kurt Russell’s best character?
Snake Plissken easily navigates the hell of a savaged New York, populated by killers and ruthless scum. So if the same scenario is a zombie apocalypse, it’s over before it even begins. My bet, Plissken navigates to safe ground and lives out his days in tranquil safety. If there is no safe ground, he’d probably carve some out. Now just think how much better World War Z would’ve been had Kurt Russell been cast as a man even similar to Snake…
5) Albert Johnson
When I first witnessed this movie, Death Hunt (1981), it was so fucking manly I was left slack jawed in amazement. Charles Bronson is of course Albert Johnson, who draws the ire of a lawman after intervening in the killing of a dog. Then the law recruits about 70 hicks to track and kill Johnson. “Leave me be”, comes the one and only warning. And once it is not heeded, backs of heads get blown out by Bronson and locals take photographs of bodies stacked-high courtesy of Bronson’s rifle. Maybe it was because they killed his dog, maybe its because he enjoyed it, but the lesson is: Don’t fuck with Bronson in them there hills.
Johnson lives off the land and turns shacks into deadly fortresses in the space of an hour, acting as a one-man combat division wiping out anything stupid enough to trying and kill him. So if a mob of hunters wouldn’t stand a chance, what chance would braindead zombies against big Charlie? In fact, it would be him chasing them!
