We’ve gone through potential actors (past and present) who could/could have played a good T-800 Terminator. This follow up article is a look at possible alternatives who could/could have played a T-1000. As Jim Cameron put it, if the T-800 is a Panzer tank, the T-1000 is a Porsche sports car, Skynet’s crowning achievement. Casting a T-1000 would be a more nuanced affair, physical presence isn’t important, although still a consideration. Here’s a look at potential candidates.
1) Jürgen Prochnow
Back when James Cameron was originally casting The Terminator (1984), his vision for the chief villain was an anonymous assassin who could blend into a crowd. That is to say a smaller and more athletic person. This was at the time when Cameron was going to have Lance Henriksen (another possible candidate for this list, right?) as the role. Jürgen Prochnow was also in the running to play The Terminator. Whether Cameron was serious or not when he said the T-1000 did not feature in the first movie because it wasn’t technically feasible in 1984, Prochnow would’ve made a good T-1000. His aloof German stoicism would be perfect.
