This is the movie all of the cool 1990s kids were talking about on the playground back in the day. There was even a strong pre-internet rumour that McClane would go down swinging and actually die in this movie. This movie is brilliant and John McTiernan just waltzed into work and created another near masterpiece like it wasn’t nothin’, another day clocking in.
And I’ll tell you something else, this is the last time we seen John McClane. In the DHINO movies, that wasn’t McClane, that was smug Bruce. But here, it’s the wise ass cop we all know, his last appearance. Sarcastic, tough and with Willis putting in a performance. This is the last Die Hard movie. And for all of Willis’ crap about moving away from action, it’s also one of his last truly great movies, period.
