25 Of The Very Best Action Movie Soundtracks
Aliens (1986)
There are variations of this soundtrack out there, switching between Jim Horner and Harry Rabinowitz, but you have to admit that the entire thing is in a different league of coolness, as would befit any James Cameron movie.
I never really got around to fully researching the deal behind Harry Rabinowitz’s involvement with the scoring of this movie. Apparently there are differences to be found and trivia that is neck deep on the soundtrack alone. The best soundtrack from the series however. I personally think only ‘Resurrection’ let the side down in that regard.
RoboCop 3 (1993)
I love RoboCop 2 and very much dislike RoboCop 3. But I think most would have to admit that as far as soundtracks go, RoboCop 3 is clearly the winner between the two. In fact, given the modifications and reworking of this, which is essentially the final version of the original score, I think it may even be the best of the overall series. RoboCop 3 is a shitty movie, but it has a really good soundtrack.
This is Basil Pouledoris at his best, giving us a soundtrack for a RoboCop 3 that we never got. For instance, 03:35 is simply completely detached from what is happening on screen, in terms of quality.
It’s a damned pity what happened, I’d love to see this soundtrack worked into RoboCop 2.
