25 Of The Very Best Action Movie Soundtracks
Top Gun (1986)
Harold Faltermeyer seemed to pump out these classic action soundtracks like nobody’s business. I bet you more people recognise Top Gun’s score than anything else about the movie.
Even on top of Faltermeyer’s score there is also Kenny Loggins’ Highway to the Danger Zone. I’d actually go so far as to call it amazing stuff. But frankly I’d rather listen to it on YouTube than watch the actual movie these days, it hasn’t aged well.
They’re still talking about a Top Gun 2 by the way…
Predator (1987)
You can’t really have a list like this and not include something as prestigious as Predator’s soundtrack.
Alan Silvestri once again knocks it out of the park with this instantly recognisable winner. I literally cannot imagine Predator without it and when they teased a sample of it for a teaser trailer for Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem years ago, it was so good that I briefly thought that movie might even be good too (wrong).
Shane Black is working on a new Predator movie. I have to say nothing is broken here, so do not fix it. Let it be, except maybe for some Predator 2-style alterations.
