25 Of The Very Best Action Movie Soundtracks

Rambo 2 (1985)

I might go out on a limb here and call this the ‘one’.  Jerry Goldsmith’s scoring for First Blood: Part II (as it was known in the day) is possibly the single manliest action soundtrack I’ve ever heard.  It has more balls than his First Blood score (also amazing).

Now, Rambo III’s scoring may be the equal, but that full score is rarely heard by anyone and was never fully used to assist the movie.  So Rambo II seems to be perfection, or quite close to it.

Rambo IV had a great score too by the way, but I think it was severely missing the sheer ballsiness of this signature score.

Broken Arrow (1996)

I’m sorry Hans Zimmer, for shitting on your work with regards to Batman above.  It was just uncharacteristically lazy of you in my opinion, overrated versus Elfman/Burton’s monster score.  But you are, sir, a genius.  In fact the person who scored the masterpiece soundtrack for The Thin Red Line may even be some type of alien.

Broken Arrow is next on our list and this theme is a classic.  Just listen to it, sounds like something you’d fire up after a job well done, such as successfully fitting a new garage door.  However, it’s a pity than this track was whored out to the Scream series, to accompany that pissant David Arquette.

Arquette, you almost stole John Travolta’s thunder.
