41) F.I.S.T. (1978)
In this movie Stallone plays a Cleveland warehouse worker who becomes involved in the labor union leadership of the fictional Federation of Inter-State Truckers (F.I.S.T.).
And while this entry was a box office success, it returned over $40 million from an $8 million budget and also received generally positive reviews… I just don’t like it. It’s almost two and a half hours of monotony and one of Stallone’s last attempts to ‘go legit’ in movies prior to his explosion in the 1980’s.
When I watched this, something I’ll never watch again, all I could think about was how good Rocky and First Blood were. Director Norman Jewison is also clearly riffing on others, such as Vittorio de Sica (Bicycle Thieves).
