4) DEMOLITION MAN (1993)

I remember getting my hands on this on VHS around 25 years ago.  This was at a time when all kids were interested in Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean Claude Van Damme.  Not not Ant Man and the Bee Hive, or whatever the fuck that girlie man shit is they watched these days.

The VHS was sitting next to a shelf stand-off between SEGA and Nintendo.  I didn’t even know what the movie was going to be about, all I knew was it was going to be great.

Demolition Man is Stallone’s best film from the 1990’s.  It continued Stallone’s good fortunes after Cliffhanger broke a combo of duds.  In fact, Demolition Man is a perfect action film and it had not yet succumbed to the increasingly soft-ass direction of the 1990’s.  It actually parodied the way things were going, funnily too.

It’s a pity though that we never got to see that rumored fight scene between Sylvester Stallone and Jesse Ventura.
