6) ROCKY III

Rocky III is my second best in that series, easily.

This guy is a wreckin’ machine, and he’s hungry!

Balboa wanted to go the distance, then hold ground in the first two movies.  But not until Rocky III and perhaps never since, was his manhood challenge by Clubber Lang.

I enjoy watching Balboa fight Lang more than either of Balboa’s fights with Creed, simply because there is more urgency.  And Mickey has died, in no small part because of Lang.  Balboa confides in his wife that he is afraid, and his wife supports him, then Balboa wins.

Rocky III also has one of the best movie intros ever.  Eye of the Tiger tells us straight off that the sportsmanship enjoyed hitherto in the series was done.  Now, Balboa must face a man who will kill him to death inside of three rounds!

Let’s also not forget, Lang defeated Balboa!  It’s in the books.
